National Consumers League project
At more than 100 years old,
the nation's oldest consumer organization, the National Consumers League, was
founded on the principle that the working conditions we accept for our fellow
citizens should be reflected by our purchases. At the same time, consumers
should demand safety and reliability from the goods and services they buy. Protecting and promoting social and economic justice
for consumers and workers in the United States and abroad was the League's
fundamental purpose in 1899, and still guides their programs today. The
National Consumers League is a private, nonprofit advocacy group representing
consumers on marketplace and workplace issues. NCL provides government, businesses, and other
organizations with the consumer's perspective on concerns including child

707-255-5555 x105 or jheymann@newlevelgroup.com Sierra Foothills winery taps NLG for marketing plan Respected El Dorado County winery, Madroņa Vineyards, has chosen NewLevel Group to create a comprehensive marketing and communications plan to refresh its brand and strengthen connections to its enthusiastic and loyal customers. At an elevation of 3,000 feet the 35 year old winery has some of the highest vineyards in California. Workshop Series - Community Foundation of Jackson Hole For the fourth straight year, the Community Foundation of Jackson Hole retained NewLevel Group to provide a series of workshops and consultations for nonprofit organizations throughout the Jackson community. Sessions covered topics from Strategies for a Changing Environment, Creating a Volunteer Management Program, and Strengthening Nonprofits in Challenging Times. Since 1989, the
Community Foundation of Jackson Hole has been bringing the local community
together and efficiently using available resources to help strengthen
Jackson Hole. By partnering with local and regional agencies, pooling
the financial resources of donors and awarding discretionary grants
to nonprofit organizations, the Community Foundation and its donors are
responding to the increasingly complex and growing issues and needs
affecting the region. Over
the years, the Community Foundation has quietly worked to make things
happen in Jackson Hole. Through efforts to convene individuals and
resources and the development and management of Old Bill's Fun Run for
Charities, the Community Foundation has made a significant difference
for the community it serves, and nonprofits nation-wide. Some highlights
include:
NLG continues work on nonprofit energy and resource conservation assessments Working through Sustainable Napa County, NewLevel Group has started on another round of behavioral assessments & benchmarking for energy efficiency and resource conservation with social service agencies including Cope Family Center, SH Family Center, Vine Village, and Aldea. An additional program is being planned to introduce energy efficiency and resource conservation concepts to the community through the client networks of these social service agencies, thereby increasing the impact of the measures these progressive agencies are taking internally. As a follow-up to the benchmarking work done last year, NewLevel Group is also working to implement new policies and procedures to align Family Service Napa Valley’s staff efforts with their Board’s recently adopted sustainability policy.
Cope Family Center looking to fill AmeriCorps position Cope has an opening for a Talent Management Program Coordinator that is funded through AmeriCorps, the U.S. government community service program designed to help communities meet needs in their area by recruiting and training individuals who are willing to devote one to two years serving in the community.
Click here for the complete position description … California Veterans Support Foundation gets off the ground NewLevel Group continues to advise the California Veterans Support Foundation, which recently received its 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status from the IRS. New CVSF Executive Director Bill Chadwick is working on developing programs in several areas, including teaching and education programs, women veterans’ issues, clinical staff development, and sustainability initiatives at the Vet’s Home. A new website is also under construction at www.VetsSupportFoundation.org Construction services firm turns to NLG for help with planning Napa construction services company, BTCM General Engineering, has retained NewLevel Group to develop tools and processes for managing the company’s growth. Cope Family Center Launches Talent Management Program One way Cope Family Center is working to maintain community services during these challenging times is with an innovative new volunteer initiative, the Talent Management Program. Cope began as a volunteer effort 37 years ago, and saw the current economic crisis is an opportunity to return to its roots and energize the organization with a new surge of volunteer power.
The Talent Management Program aims to recruit skilled volunteers to join the Cope team by carefully matching volunteers' skills and interests to one of several service opportunities. Cope has trained their staff on best practices of volunteer management, developed job descriptions and lines of supervision for a variety of volunteer positions, and in September, hired Americorps member Aimee Inglis to manage the program.
