Becoming Green: How Green Practices Can Help Your Organization Raise Money, Save Money, and Reduce Waste Date: Tuesday, October 21 Time: 9:00 – 11:30 am Place: Volunteer Center of Sonoma County, 153 Stony Circle, Suite 100, Santa Rosa, CA Fee: $40 for Volunteer Center members; $60 for non-members Environmental sustainability is not a fad. Increasingly, private and government funders are requiring nonprofits to have an environmental sustainability plan before granting significant resources. Establishing a "green" organization involves more than eliminating bottled water and turning off lights. It means changing the way your organization thinks and acts. While change is never easy, the results can save money to increase program funding, conserve the earth's resources, and position your organization to catch the attention of funders. The workshop will provide a general overview of the following topics: • going Green: what it means, why it’s important, and how it can help your mission • creating a “Green Culture”: 5 elements for success • what can be done to get started now • how to become a Bay Area (A.B.A.G.) Green Certified Organization
